Yamaha LP450"Lord Player".
Serial No: 080919

Yamahas les Paul built to a very high standard, as you would expect, and made from the finest materials. These were never meant for export, which is probably why they escaped any lawsuit, but are now filtering through into the UK and USA markets through "grey" importers... Like me !

Unfortunately it’s not easy to date Yamahas from their serial number as early ones often don’t show up on their serial number wizard. I’d expect this one to be 70’s-80’s and probably pre “lawsuit” judging by the "Lord Player" logo on the headstock that looks remarkably like the "Les Paul" logo on a Gibson. Very naughty. It also has the proper double ring "Tulip" tuners.

For its age the guitar is in good condition, though there are some wear marks on the back of the body, some of which have been touched up. Most prominent is a V shaped mark that is quite deep though obviously doesn't affect the playability of the guitar and can't be seen when playing. They are only of cosmetic significance and can clearly be seen in the pics below. Apart from what is already mentioned there are NO Cracks breaks or repairs. I took the pictures in bright sunlight which exaggerates every tiny scratch so there’s nothing hidden. The top looks almost like new.

Solid thick Mahogany body with birdseye maple cap. Set neck which looks very much like mahogany with rosewood fingerboard. Standard LP electrics, twin PAF style humbuckers, two Vol and Tone with 3 way switch. Chrome hardware is in very good condition, Yamahas often are. Neck is straight and true, very little fret wear binding has mellowed to a nice creamy yellow with age and is in good solid condition. Weighs 9Lbs 4.5Kgs (approx). Slim neck section.

Guitar plays and sounds superb, These vintage Yamahas are top quality guitars and more than a match for anything Ibanez were producing at the time and on a par with the best of Greco for the price. These are probably better built than a Gibson of the period and streets ahead of the modern stuff from Epiphone etc.
